Every Painting Has a Place. Every Place Has a Story.
Preserving the places, memories, and heritage of Cayman Brac through art.

welcome
Born and bred on Cayman Brac, creativity was simply part of everyday life for me. In 1986, my parents opened NIM Things, a unique craft store devoted exclusively to handmade Caymanian creations. Surrounded by local artists and artisans, I spent countless hours watching visitors discover the creativity and traditions of our islands.
About a year later, when I was thirteen years old, my mum decided to place one of my paintings in the shop. To my surprise, it sold. That single sale changed the course of my life. The shop porch became my first working studio.
What began as a young girl’s love of drawing gradually became a lifelong journey of painting the places, people, wildlife, and heritage of Cayman Brac. More than four decades later, I still feel that same excitement each time a new painting begins.
This gallery is where I share that journey. Whether you’re looking for an original painting, searching for a special reminder of Cayman, or simply enjoying the artwork, I hope you’ll take your time and feel at home.

about
Thank you for wanting to learn more about SimoneS Art Gallery, a spot dedicated to all things art! After leaving Ringling School of Art and Design, I returned back home to Cayman Brac and opened my small independent fine art gallery in 1994 as part of NIM Things. The name SimoneS comes from me—it’s a mix of my first name, Simone, and the first initial, S, of my last name, Scott.
I created the actual gallery not just for my artwork but also to give local artists and international visitors a place to show off their talents during exhibitions. While you'll definitely see my own creations there, I love that it’s also a space for other artists to shine and connect with art lovers during annual art events. I mostly paint outdoors, capturing the stunning colors of light en plein air either on my iPad or with good old acrylic paints. Over the years, I've also picked up photography skills that help me in the studio, serving as a handy reference for refining my pieces of art. SimoneS Art Gallery is all about celebrating art, community, and creativity. My website however works a little different in that I just showcase and sell my artwork on here. I invite you to check out the amazing works on display and join me on this artistic adventure, where every piece has its own story to tell!
What began as simply capturing what I observed has become a way of life over the forty years I’ve been painting on Cayman Brac. While I love to travel, I’ve found that my islands provide endless inspiration for my passion. That’s a good thing, as I have not travelled internationally since the lockdown. When I once worked for an airline for 5 years plus just so I could get flying benefits.
During the pandemic, I decided to continue my studies online because I believe learning is a lifelong journey. After receiving multiple scholarships based on both my past and current portfolio, and being required to complete only three years of study, starting in 2021, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication from SCAD in 2024.
